The Group As A Body As A Landscape In My Body

2023 | Dual-channel video installation

03:30 Minutes, loop | H264 | Plant-dyed silk with acrylic paint, thrift wood, timber, rubber, claws.

The installation The Group As A Body As A Landscape In My Body refers to mental after-images of social interaction reminiscent of the effect of social anxiety. Despite this haunting starting point, the installation creates a mysterious yet comforting atmosphere.

The work consists of two video projections mapped onto a cylindrical form. The latter, a transparent plant-dyed silk surface, is partially coated with transparent, yet non-translucent material. The superimposed bodies in the video create a horizon similar to that of a hilly landscape image. The films are projected in superimposition of positive and negative images. Elusive forms appear in the interplay of the films with the transparent and translucent projection surface. Visitors can enter the cylindrical form or add their silhouette to that of the group by walking around it.
